Have you ever heard the quote from Mark Twain, regarding arguing with stupid people?
He says ‘Never argue with stupid people as they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience’.
This is exactly how this is going and I’m bowing down to your obvious expertise!
My point in regard to comments by ‘simple minded f*ckwits is well proven by your above comment!

Original fact remains: this was car crime pure and simple. Our town was deliberately targeted by a gang of nasty motorised criminals, who drove up from Kirkby on a burglary expedition....If certain members of the motoring fraternity don't want to know about these unsettling incidents, best they avoid the News page.

It’s not car crime at all, it’s burglary and going equipped to burgle. They were hardly likely to go on a bus were they. Again you are arguing simply for the sake of it.

You seem to be determined to prove my point regarding stupidity!
This IS NOT car crime (Car crime is things like theft from/of motor vehicle, criminal damage to motor vehicles etc) this is a case of Burglary, (which is a far more serious crime).
it has nothing to do with the 'motoring fraternity' in the exact same way that anyone committing a similar incident on a bike would have nothing to do with the 'cycling fraternity' and anyone (from either side) who thinks otherwise are, as I've implied in previous posts, is a simple minded f*ckwit!

Not car crime? Next thing, you'll be tell us the Flying Squad are pedestrians who just happen to use a car! (rollseyes).

Like I said previously, arguing for the sake of it.
